SWAN

Thank you for your reply's . I had been to this website but did not realize that the new drawings opened to a different file . Now i have one more question before i can begin . I have not been able to find the dimension for the thickness of material Mr Nagaoka used in his build .I have attached photo of my first DIY speaker the Harvey BVR . Many thanks to Scott Lindgren for his design.

not exactally...
mine are the super swans; dimensions are slightly different anyway because it's for 108es-II drivers.
but yes, I modified it so the inside dimensions remained the same--area/length/volume.
It took a little while to figure out...
No, didn't take pictures of anything; didn't even have a camera...

lotsa build photos in those links tho, even animation of how it goes together.

looks right.
looks like a good idea too, for building something questionable...
have to remember that one!

are you going to put a driver in it?
just wondering what it would sound like; being that thin & resonate?
would it have many different "pitches" resonating, (from dias) or just lengths, or what?
interesting...

Swan

To answer your question . I do not plan on installing a driver in mock-up but i will save it so that i can show people how the speaker works.

Has anyone out there in DIY world ever built the Swan ,i would be interested on there thoughts of sound quality. Currently have a pair of Harvey BYR that i built and a pair of Ed Schillings Hornshoppe Horns Powered by FI X-2A3 tube amp 3.5 watts

Lots of people have built them.
I really like mine, they're my wife's favorite speakers, and usually end up being what gets listened to most when audio friends are over.
3.5 watts is usually enough, good enough @ moderate volume in small room for sure, I've used them w/ 2A3.
Sound real good right now playing the bluze w/ a little EL84 SET.

Not trying to be down, was just wondering why on the planing thing. Looked like a lot of work...
Built mine out of 3/4, but changed dimensions so internal area/volume stayed the same.
I sure wouldn't make one one side one way & the other side the other way tho...
