Vertical/Horizontal 2 x JXR6 Linear Array as central speaker ?

Hello,

To match my JX92S TLs, I plan to create a central speaker for my AV system based on a 2 JXR6 linear array. (And later on use single JXR6 for surrounds)

JX92 isn't an option because the central speaker will be behind the projection screen, and I've not a big depth available.

How would you setup the array? Vertical or Horizontal ?

Is an array required ? I feared that a single JXR6 woukd be too small for a central speaker.

Is it possible to design an ultra-fat enclosure without getting reflection on the back of the cone ?

Thanks for your help

More my field as I have JXR6s and JX92s.

The 92s sound bright when listened on axis, so I think if used for a centre speaker you might want to aim them up (or down) to balance that a bit.

The JXR6s sound better, particularly in the HF. They are very clear and natural, particularly on voice. As center speakers they would work very well. I would use two vertically, to prevent any comb filter effects as you move side to side in the listening position.

They work fine in a shallow box. Keep the box size to the recommended volume on the Jordan site (2 to 4 litres per driver). Watch the impedance - they are 4 ohm so you'll want them connected in series to bring them up to 8 ohm.

Hope this helps.

You'll find the JXR6s very nice sounding. Completely natural with none of the slight emphasis the JX92s display on some material. It's important to put them in the right size boxes though - I had someone contact me recently who was worried about excess excursion and then revealed they were in 10L boxes!
