Adding resistance to Fostex fe166 to act like fe167 when needed

I only have funds to buy one pair of drivers, but would like to build multiple enclosures over time. I would like to build the new Fonkins for the fe167 drivers, but also really want to build a pair of Austin 166's. On the frugel-horn site it used to have that you could use the fe166 instead of fe167 drivers if you add a certain amount of resistance to raise the qts, you just lose a little sensitivity.

How does this work, and can you nearly universily substitute the fe166 in a fe167 enclosure with that resitance?

Thank you for your help.
