Default Single Driver Omni-speaker?

I have the Tang-Band driver:

Saw the Morrison design whcih appears to use the FR-125 driver
http://www.morrisonaudio.com/morrison_whatsnew.htm

How hard would it be to design the cone to make the Tang-Band an omni design?

Anyone do this before?

Thanks

Default with a little work...

The most difficult part would be to sculpt a cone as close to "opposite " (or shaped like a "negative mould of the cone). It may be easier to find a pair of similar drivers that are FUBARed, and salvage the cones to use as "reflectors".

make a conical "plug" as per some other "omni" type loudspeakers, or try something that Bose (ugh!) tried with their original autosound system in '81 or '82, an angled reflective plate, so that there can be some directionality if required.

Both approaches could work with co-axials or fullrangers.. I built a couple of pairs of upwards firing "omnis" that sound excellent, and cost next to nothing. (about $60 a pair plus hardware and enclosures), and use no reflectors and offer very wide dispersion. They are very fun to listen to.

Also please have a look at the Decware site for ideas about omni directional loudspeakers and give Linkwitz Labs a visit and read everything about the Pluto loudspeakers.
