Default Fostex 208es horn stuffing

Hello there.

I am building the fostex recommended enclosure for the 208es,and i want to ask if anyone has tried stuffing the chamber behind the driver,or in the bottom of the cabinet.

Has anyone placed any stuffing on the wall behind the driver to eliminate any reflecting sound waves?

I would appreciate any help.

Thank you

I've done it many times, with varying results. Try several variations
and see what works for you.

Initially, the 208 requires a bit of stuffing in the compression chamber during burn in (up to about 100 hours). If you dont, it will sound a bit harsh at times. Thereafter, you can remove the stuffing to suit your taste.

I am over 300 hours, and have found a light stuffing to work for me. This seems to retain the speed and air of the driver.

I Stuffed the horn opening with a pillow to start with, but this put a veil over the music for me, and sounded muddy. I quickly removed it.

I also tried altering the compression chamber size with blocks of wood. Dont waste your time, the designer has optimised the chamber size for this driver, and I found it had a detrimental effect.

Enjoy, its a great driver.
