Adding a rear Ambience tweeter

Hi ,im still loving my Chilli-chang BVR horns.These have a Fostex 168E sigma driver and i find the sound wonderfull in my smallish room.Just a thought , Cain and cain fit a rear tweeter to one of their Abbey speakers . I would like to add just abit of ambience and air to the top end without destroying the imaging etc. This is just a thought and i wanted to know your opinions etc about fitting a rear tweeter to my speakers.Could i use a 1uf cap to roll it in ? what type of tweeter would suit the fostex a nice ribbon maybe ?

The type of tweeter is up to you. Keep in mind it will be rather forgiving when you fire it out the back so some have got away with a rather inexpensive unit and even, gasp, a piezo (not an endorsement). I would experiment with the cap, you will get away with going bigger if you need more presence.

I am not crossover he used. I think it's a good idea. Try a 1uf cap and work from there.

I also used an L-pad to tune the tweeter to taste.

Hi Guys I saw this tweeter and thought it might work.So if i use a bigger cap than 1 uf This will roll in the treble sooner is this right.? To adjust the level do i just use a resistor across thos tweeter what sort of valves etc.Thanks again james.

That tweeter is a bit overkill, and probably not quite efficient enuff... You want something the same or greater efficiency that the 168 and you can adjust the level with the size of the cap. You also don't need anything that goes really low, 5k probably will do you fine.
