I've heard it said before by some that the best overall bang for the buck from Fostex is the 208 with a tweeter.. Any thoughts on mating it with the Fostex ribbon tweet? ...

Mod's, although this is a 2 way system, I'm only after the Full Range mentality minded folk's idea's from this forum so hoping it can stay Dave

Basszilla uses a ribbon with FE208 but i'd think one of the Fostex horns would be a better match. dave

Basszilla uses an Aurum Cantus 2si true ribbon
Sounds good, it is efficient enough. Probably the more expensive Fostex horn tweeters are good, but the cheap FT17 can't compete with the AC ribbon. It would be worth getting the Bassilla Platinum plans as they do include the crossover for hooking the two together. The Basszilla is by Dick Olsher: http://www.blackdahlia.com/html/tip_43.html |

That one looks good also thanks OzMike...
I wonder why on the Basszilla the drivers are centered instead of offset on the baffle like others seem to do..? Has anyone tried to mod the 208 with a wizzer and phase plug to bring the highs up ? Dave

my $.02 (Cdn The Sigma is a highly evolved series - on the 108 through 208, the center is far more than a simple dust cap, and I can imagine that the only excuse to remove it would be severe physical damage (such as visited by inquisitive toddlers). We have had occasion to install phase plugs on FE108E Sigmas with such damage, but I wouldn't suggest performing this mod to an intact pair of any model of this series. I would sincerely doubt that a whizzer could be easily attached to the profiled main cone, or that it would improve the performance.

Good points Chris, I guess as usual I'm just thinking out loud
I got to thinking that maybe if something could be done mod wise to bring the highs up on the 208, it could end up to be one of those 'sleeper' drivers that usually get overlooked but could kick some serious sound..Dave
