Default aiko build

I am currently building a pair of Aikos with a fe108e driver. I was just wondering if any stuffing is reccomended/required before I glue them up. Any input on the type of stuffing material and stuffing placement would be great.

Thanks,

Chris

None before you glue them. You can play with some damping in the low pass chamber to suit your own requirements afterwards.

have your plans considered a Supra-baffle of any type?

I built a pair of Aikos a year or so back ( originally for the Lyeco , but they were embarrassed by the FE108E Sigma), and planted on an elliptical SB.

Thanks, Scott. I am using the atlternate deflector (not the 'stepped') which leaves a chamber at the top and bottom corners. Should that area be filled to prevent any cabinet resonance?

Thanks,

Chris

Been a while since i've been inside those... i think i put a bit of damping in the ends of the air cavity.

let me answer for Scott (I should say on behalf of ) - I'd definitely fill the lower void with heavy ballast (i.e. sand / lead shot), and the top with perhaps with kitty litter. (without a wide base plate these will be very tippy if the top is filled with heavy ballast as well)

Chrisb....the round 'baffle' on the original aiko plans...would that be considered a Supra Baffle?

The "golden ratio" ellipse was just more aesthetically appealing, compared to the square SBs on Frugelhorns, etc.

I'd mocked up a round one and it just didn't seem to synergize with the aspect ratio of the Aiko cabinet.

Planet10 and Chrisb....yes, I am using the round baffle from the original Aiko plans. I agree that the round baffle and the tall, thin cabinet looks odd at first...I hope it will grow on me. I'll post some photos when I get further on with the build. Thanks for all the advise!
