Default Swans tripath and FR speakers

This just turned up at parts Express:

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...40&ctab=6#Tabs

Inquiring minds want to know what those speakers are with the new Tripath.

Any more reviews on this? The manual wouldn't load.

Audio Magus has had those for a long time. I have a pr downstairs. The grills are very hard to remove so i haven't ;ppled inside yet. The amp is cool but the (relatively) large connectors ruin some of the effect.

I was curious about the driver itself.

Can't see much but it looks like a Fostex.

And, yeah, this amp completely escaped me even reading the catalogs.

If the amp is any good (and for me it doesn't take much) the
speaks are just a bonus if they can be reused in real cabs.

I will see what I can find from Audio Magus.

I would be very surprised if it wasn't.

Amp is a little class D amp, likely limited by the outboard wallwart power supply and the size of caps that can be fitted into the tiny "box"

Lon - not only are these quite a cute little package (aesthetics unfortunately thwarted as Dave mentioned by the wiring requirements) , but they sound easily as good as several cheap generic computer speakers I've owned in the past.

OK, not a for gamers or 5.1 surround sound, but leaps ahead of the little tinklers found in most laptops or monitor screens with built-in speakers.

I'm waiting for WiFi enabled full-range earbuds self powered by body generated heat , or a 5yr battery- you know, the Jack Bauer special edition,

I am actually using these for sound for the DVD player, and they work very well. Dialog sounds great on them, and they produce a surprising amount of clean volume.

This is good to know.

I'm catching up so I missed one included link up there so I still haven't seen what the connections look like.

Are those round enclosures wired directly to the amp?

If it's just a matter of thin wire, I use solid thin wire for speaker hookups now.

Also puzzled by the fact that Swans is selling so cheaply.

I would definitely reuse the HiVis in some other build and
hookup my MLTL and BIB. (Yes, I use the setup asymmetrically.)

no, it's not the wire - the amp is so tiny that by the time you get all the power, signal and speaker wires plugged in, the moulded connectors get bulky

(hence the silly joke about self powered / wifi)

the little amp could be limited trying to drive a more demanding load or into a larger environ, but of course that's only conjecture - I haven't actually tried it yet
