Hello,

I'm tempted to buy an OTL amplifier for my fullrange speakers ( DIY OTL with 6A7G, 6 watt output at 8ohm).

My speakers are Lowther EX3 in a mauhorn IV enclosure.

Currently they are fed by an el34 push-pull ("ebay" chinese amp, Mr LIANG)

Do you think OTL are a great match for FULLRANGER ? Is there anybody with experiences with OTL and fullrange ? ( the search I made on the archives was unsuccesfull)

I listen mainly to classical music but I enjoy also rock or pop music.

Thanks for yours advices !

Regards

Guillaume

OTL

OTLs work great with any kind of speakers, horns, dynamic,electrostats..., at least from my personal experience.
A pair of VDN's mono-integrateds (REX-100) / 100W RMS
drove with authority:

Sound Lab Quantum
M.-Logan SL3
M.-Logan Aerius
M.-Logan ReQuest II
M.-Logan CLSII
Thiel CS 2.3
Thiel CS 0.5
Vandersteen 2
Quad ESL 63
several models of CABASSE

All a.m. gave their best with this OTL in direct comparison with the
owners' original amplifiers (I cannot say which, it would be not
fair, since nobody's taste is the ultimative standard for everybody)

Here is a company that sells reliable OTL amps (vacuum tube amps without transformer output stage). There is a good explanation of their advantages on this site. Basically, they are a good match for any type of speaker.

We have had them in here driving the Tannoy HPD's, and if you're going
to OTL, you want to give them a serious listen. Also, Ralph is known
for his excellent customer service - no small consideration.
