Speaker Crakle from Fan

Whenever I turn on or off my fan, I get a crackle though my speakers,

The speakers are a pair F200a by John K and are driven by a gainclone amp / pioneer receiver pre-amp.

Why is this happening?

And how can I fix it? Maybe a coupling cap?

Is it a DC fan,or AC?

If it's DC,a simple CRC (or CLC) filter might help.I usually have good luck with a simple CRC on most brush-less DC fans. I've had problems with them causing humming/buzzing noises before.

I haven't taken it apart yet. But I believe it is a AC fan. It's is a normal portable house fan.

GCs are very sensitive to EM radiation. I always enclose the amp in an alum box and ground the box. Faraday cage.

Once someone had built an open GC on a breadboard and kept stating that he was hearing Mexican Rap music in the background, still funny to me.

I hadn't thought about EMI - but that's great advice.

I just thought it was electrical noise on the AC lines kicked in by the fan. Motors are electrically noisy. A line filter might clear it up.
