Hi all
I am about to build a little valve amp (at 8W/ch) and plan to try it with some full range speakers. I have ordered a pair of Fostex FE168EZ's based on their freq range and sensitivity (94.5dB 1W) What would a good enclosure be for these - listening is in a small-medium, semi open living room.... TIA Lee |

Hi Lee, I have those drivers in a BIB with suprabaffles(see BIB thread). Im driving them with a big SS amp and also a Kingrex chip amp and they work well on both. They are very detailed, dynamic and have a big airy soundstage. They are big and ideally need to be corner loaded or at least against the wall (as mine are). The frequency response shows quite a bit of ripple but the only audible gap in my case is some thing lacking occasionaly lacking somewhere in the midbass area (I think) which would probably be improved with cnr loading. They are actually too big for our living room so I will work my way down through the BVR boxes(Ceinwyn?, Curvy chilli Changs etc. ) when I get the time.
If you are ever in Sydney and would like to hear them let me know, regards, Andrew |

also quite a bit of authority in the bass, down to 28hz and very clean. Andrew
