Default fr125s BIB -- need amp recomendations?

I have decided to build some fr125s BIBs for my college apartment. Now I need an amp plus a receiver (I'm guessing), and would like some suggestions. The receiver may not be necessary, so Ill tell you what they will be used for mainly. They will need to play when using my xbox 360 through a 1080 p lcd, and for music ill be using a laptop or an ipod.

For the music all I really Need is a signal (ipod/laptop) plus an amp and my BIBs correct?

For playing through my xbox and LCD, could I simply run the amp from my BIBS to the LCD and have it play sound? or would I need a receiver, pre-amp, or something else to make this happen?

Also any recommendations for amps, or whatever you suggest to make all of this work.

I realize this is noobish but most of my experience is from car audio.

Thanks for any help in advance

The FR125's will probably do allright with the 5w. or so that the LCD will put out if it has that type of output. For casual listening, the laptop will also do the job with no amp. For serious listening, at the minimum a Sonic T-amp (10w.), or larger would be better.
I had trouble trying to drive them with an HT receiver that puts out 96 w. into a 6 ohm load. It was too much wattage for these little guys and destroyed one driver. That was not my error but the result of a user trying to get more bass by turning up the volume a little too much.
Good luck with the build and happy listening .

From what I've read the FR125's are a little power hungry. I think 10-15 watts should start to sound good. Check out this thread here.

There's been a lot of good things said about the Kingrex T20U tripath amp. It has a usb input for your laptop that sounds miles better than any computer line/headphone output. It also has a regular line in that you can attatch the line out of your TV to. No reciver needed.

I like some of those amps but most are on backorder.

Would a small PA amp work?

A small PA amp would work quite well I'd think, something along a ART SLA-1 or something. I used one for quite awhile on a pair of 103e's with good results.

Cool, I was thinking Behringer A500, should be enough power . Some guy only rated it at about 90 watts @ 8ohm which isn't surprising to me, but I think they are built well enough for what I'll use it for.

Eh, I'd try to stay away from behringer if you could, just not to big of a fan of them, very cheaply made from the ones I've dealt with.
