Default bipole speaker + tweeter

Is there any merit to incorporating a tweeter into a 4" full range bipole speaker? The motivation for the question is the following: I notice that many of the full range drivers have a lot of peak and valleys on the db vs frequency curve beyond 10kHz. A separate tweeter crossed over beyond 8kHz may smooth out the highs while allowing a very wide range for the full range drivers. Assume we use a pair creative sound FS125 or one of the many TB drivers available for the full range drivers. How would one design the cross over for the tweeter - full range pair?
Thanks in advance

Hi,

i made a bipolar speaker using FR125 S some weeks ago.

I decided not to use a tweeter or supertweeter, i would fear
the loss of the most important advantage of the concept:
Homogeneity.

When building 2 way, i would suggest to use 2 tweeters and
build a classic 2 way crossover with XO at say 2.1 .. 2.3 Khz,
of cause then it is not necessary to use fullrangers anymore.

Since a bipolar speaker tries to simulate an omnidirectional
sound source, the tweeters could be mounted back to back
as near as possible (neodymium tweeters) on a separate little
baffle ontop of the fullrangers
(as near as possible to the fullrangers vertically).
Delay of the tweeters could become a problem with such a
concept, if the enclosure is too deep ...

Top of the enclosure has to be designed to avoid protruding
edges near the tweeters.

Maybe a front firing supertweeter is an option, but i do not
believe there is much to gain ... but maybe it is a matter of
taste. For a supertweeter i would suggest a 1. Order XO.
Voice coil inductivity of the Fullranger should be compensated,
to ensure, that the lowpass for the fullranger works properly.

Cheers
