Forgot to mention that John (Zaph Audio) is not a fullrange guy. If that is your goal, his projects would not be for you, though he does list a couple of fullrange (or at least widerange) drivers - HiVi, for instance - and he respects the Jordan JX92S. However, if your goal is a low-cost dorm system foremost, his projects maybe worth checking out.
With a bit of tweaking, some of the older fullrange Japanese-made drivers can sound sweet and be had through thrift stores for next to nothing, and, if you're lucky, you sometimes can stumble onto an early F103 alnico.
