"New" Jordan JX92 Cabs

Have been pondering what to do with my group buy Jordan's for a month. Have done a lot of reading and have come to the conclusion that the cabs out there are not ideal for the "new" Jordan's specs.

So what would you do with them? My BB Ply arrives tomorrow and with the long weekend, I'm looking to build.

get accurate measurements for the current drivers and go from there.

Then worry about possible tweeters (if any), X-overs, etc.

Hi Gary,

If you believe the recent T/S parameters measured by the hobbyists these will need a fairly large enclosure if you go ported. I have mine sealed right now, with the plan to move them to aperiodic. Sealed + sub works very well. If you go small ported you get a small hump in the bass region which is not necessarily a bad thing.

I do believe the hobbyists! That's what scares me about building from the old plans.

What would your thoughts on size for a floorstander with aperiodic venting be? As I've said before, I can build not design.

Were you thinking of using the scanspeak vents or making your own?

I think aperiodic you will want a sub with them.

Have you ruled out a vented enclosure?

I'd like to make a narrow floorstander like the MLTL on the site, but can't waste the wood if it won't work

Just how big are we talking when it comes to a vented box? I have no software to model with unfortunately.

Ran a sim using one of the online box simulators and came up with this. Used the numbers from Zaph.

How does this look.

Box volume 1.19 cubic feets (33.58 liters)
Box tunned to 37.17
2" port 4.75" long

Does this seem reasonable?

Here is a Bass Reflex using Zaph's numbers and calculated using WinISD Alpha

1.33 ft^3, tuned 36.81 Hz via 3" diam port by 8.33" long.

There are a lot of guys in here that are very good with Martin's worksheets. Hopefully someone could post a TL design for you to also consider.

The designs based on the manufacturer's spec work fine.

Measured MLTL using a fractionally shorter version of the 48 MLTL design on the Jordan site (similar to Jim Griffin's spec). Blue line is as measured without compensation, red is with a BSC circuit in place. These are the triangular versions. I think the suckout at 150Hz was a room effect.

The plot was made on Ted Jordan's MLSSA system so someone else will probably measure it differently.
