Check out the response plots in post #11 (trumpetmess link). The 10k peak is very evident on axis, but at 15 degrees off axis is essentially nonexistent. In fact, toed in around 15 degrees they will sound (after adequate breakin) remarkably smooth, detailed and dynamic. Try them in Martin King's MLTL or ask Jon about using them in his 'Tiny Alnico Open Baffle'.
Give the Lowthers another chance. You will soon be packing up the Fostex drivers.
