This Marquis design has a port that's 6.5" long and expands from 25in^2 to 75in^2. It's kind of like a horn. I ran the calculation from the old EV sheets for the driver I have and what is interesting is the port comes out to 50in^2 at 6.5" long for a 6000in^3 enclosure. That's interesting as the volume works out exactly the same as a linear tapered port for 25in^2 to 75in^2. So, I was think of building this enclosure to original spec just as a fun retro project. I'm wondering if the tapered spec has any detriment or benefit. I'd build it to spec unless there's a strong reason not to. |

Big vents tend to be one note honkers if not broken up into many smaller ones such as done on the Jensen Ultraflex/Onken. The taper smooths its response a bit over a wider BW.
