New 8" Fullrange Driver by Seas

Here is a picture of a new 8" Seas fullrange unit. Not much info on the website so far. Magnet does not look all that large, so I suspect it will be a high Q driver.

Probably Alnico, size looks quite decent to me.
Interesting that Seas is entering this market (again).

It'll be interesting to see what they've come up with. Seas usually make a good driver. Pity they've decided to make it a whizzer cone unit though.

basket pretty similar to old scan speak - 21W38

but - that's not surprise , I presume ......

Ya Scott, I was hoping for a single driver a la Dave Merrill DCA5.5M without whizzers. But i'm sure they'll make it sound good.

Do you guys think this is a 20-20 driver ? Prob'ly not. But who knows.

Until we get some more gen, impossible to say. It should be a solid enough design though.

Note that they said this is the first driver in the series. Perhaps they will produce a smaller size sans whizzer.

Looks interesting development at Seas, but to me it looks like the stadard 18cm basked not an old scan speak basket.

Have anybody heard this driver or have any news about it ?
