Anone have experience with this fostex FE103 design?

Looks really nice in the photos. Can anyone comment on its performance and does anyone know if it can accomodate a Fostex 168e?

The FE103E is a 4" driver. The FE168 is a 6.5" driver.

Yeah, I was wondering whether or not it could accomodate the larger driver since I already have them.

No. The 168 is wider than the box to start. You need to look for a horn designer for the driver. Hiro or RonHorn A166 would be my recommendation. Iris would work too i expect.

As Dave said, unfortunately, the 168 will be too large for that box. Horns are often forgiving, but you'd have to be able to make sure it fits...

I'd also be inclinded to look at a BIB for it, if you can cope with the height. 168ESigma and the BIB is a magical combination.

Sorry for all the dumb questions (I'm pretty new to the DIY speaker thing).

Since the design is too narrow for the FE168e can you proportionately change the dimensions (height/width) to make it work? I really like the looks of that cab, that' why I'm hung up on it! My backup plan is to use the z-horn layout that was made for my driver.

And sorry about the Hiro confusion ... I thought it was simply a link to the smaller frugel-horn. Unfortunately, I have a small listening space and that design would be too large.

Scaling a horn is fraught with problems & generally won't work too well. Pretty though it is, I'm also not at all convinced the design linked to is an especially good example of the breed anyway.

Thanks, the last part of your comment sealed it for me. I don't care how good it looks if it doesn't sound that great.

I think the frugel horn is in my near future.
