Not terribly hard to beat bose. But why bother with the cambridge cabinets? Easy enough to find a 'found object' type cabinet in this size- a thick-walled plastic cup or some such.
The tang bands are well-regarded.

Would this be the Bose Lifestyle system that I've just recieved some junk mail on saying if I give them 4 grand (UK pounds) they will give me a DVD player, some tiny (tinny) speakers and a horn loaded sub woofer, though if I havn't got £4,000 cash, they'll do me favarable rates.
Those little 3" Tang Band look nice and £4-50 on offer. |

I'm seriously considering building one for the kids playstation set-up, even with postage to the UK those speakers are cute for the price.

I dropped a pair of 871's into some .25 cuft Dayton cabinets that I had laying around. I added a notch filtre and these speakers really impressed me. I've powered them with a T-amp and a pair of tube monoblocks as well. They sounded great with both, but the tube amps are a better pairing in my opinion. These little speakers are absolutely worth the money. For such a small cost, everyone should buy at least a pair to check them out.
