faulty driver?

Hello,

I have one Fostex FF225k that could be faulty. The speaker sound distorted. I tried everything with wiring. If you have any ideas..... otherwise I will change the speaker.

When I turn on the amplifier the speaker emit a low tone bump and has a big cone excursion. The other speaker doesn't have that excursion, but it has the normal middle pitched bump( so normal).

You have tested to swap channels and tried with another amplifier?

it may be the amp, the speaker or the source. not too long ago i ordered a replacement 127e because i thought it was blown. The new driver arrived and had the same problem (similar to what you describe). Turned out to be one channel on the CD player.

Check the driver on the side that works and see if it still sounds busted. If its ok, then it's the amp or the source.

yes I have swapped channel: same result.....
I also swapped cable
I inverted the phase also

I think changing amplifier will not solve the problem but I'm going to try anyway....
It's shame the ff225k is a fantastic driver when it work...

Exchanged speaker cables L > R and R > L in either speaker or amplifier end and still problem in the same speaker?

I used the cable of the Left speaker, but the problem is still there.

Curses. It didn't sound good, from your initial comments. If you've tried all the above, then it sounds like the driver's duff.

I tried it with onther amplifier, the t-amp. the same situation. I tried also with the same channel of the cd player that works well with other speaker.
