There are two AER manufactures :
“AER Loudspeaker” and “AER Loudspeakers” http://www.aer-loudspeaker.com/ http://www.aer-loudspeakers.com/ Someone can explain? Which is the authentic AER loudspeaker? Best regards Jaime

look under "diy drive units" You could say that the other appear to be ok too... but in the light of doing what they do it is very questionable if their quality nor specs are reliable at all But their site does look very impressive, but you know much of it can be "borrowed" too...does look like quality, but who knows what they actually deliver, when it comes to that |

This is a very sad story. Each of them seems to accuse the other of plagiarism and claims to be the original inventor/manufacturer... civil action seems to be going on... at least from one side.
Now we have this: http://www.aer-loudspeakers.com/eng/rebuild-e.htm versus that: http://www.bd-design.nl/contents/en-...ive_Units.html Houston, we've got a problem... |

I'm more inclined to believe Bert Doppenberg.
A German friend of mine bought drivers from him rather than from Germany. I have seen and heard the drivers. If they are fake I'll eat my hat.

I did at some point actually think of an X-partner "thing"
So its really not a copy like BD claims ... question is if one is better than the other ... sounds more like ugly business... and us being hostage |

better stay away from AER. Nobody knows what is real and what is fake. If you ask three insiders in Germany you get five answers.
Both of them always refused to offer measurements of their drivers. For that amount of money they charge, better go for a Lowther. You know what you get and since they use the rolled whizzer cone they are a lot better than in the past. |

Considering that the AER is a "Lowther made by Germans", it's
ironic. I did have a genuine AER loaned to me by a generous Korean DIYer, and I have to say it lived up to the description.

If anyone has these drivers it would be most helpful if you could send some detailed close up pictures and tell us which AER you got them from.
It will soon become apparent which are the fakes, perhaps they will both be good. |
