I reckon its something German, maybe made during war, that made it to the Eastern Bloc also, via DDR later, hence recognized in a Latvian ship. Can it be that SABA or others were making those for Hitler (Gothic, but SABA like stamp), for his high command and ships?

I'm trying to find out what was the power tube in this thing. EL8 seem to be something in that direction: 2W into 12.5K load.

although 1949 is a bit too late - or maybe not? maybe it's even logical since it's already not a field coil.

Here's something from ebay - the speaker looks similar! But they're philips.

It looks the same for its magnet assembly. Did you get yours out of its cover so to compare with the Ebay one and see if it is some Philips OEM, branded in Gothic logo?...Hey maybe it is Cyrillic lettering after all?
