Default I want a driver that isn't harsh and doesn't shout.

My criteria:

8" or bigger (6.5" considered)

Efficient

A slightly rolled off treble is OK

NO HONK

Cheap

Not fatiguing

Any suggestions?

The Omnes Audio L8 has 8", good FR, slight rolloff in the treble, is efficient and not expensive. Needs bass-support.
