Hi gus, i just dumped my speakres, allthough they were not finished. The reason is, i build a OB from old full range drivers, just for fun, it took me like 20 minutes.....But !!!!!!!!!!!! ------->
I CAN'T STOP LISTEN TO IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm realy amazed.the sound is opend, stage is wide...etc etc.So natural conclusion is i want better ones!!. so please, what is the newest, sweetest sounding driver suitable for Ob? say 8" and no more than £100/piece And o thought about using 4-6 pieces of B&G Neo8 side by side, undernieth it 2x 15" good old Alphas. What d you thing about it? thanks a lot. |

Have you considered about Visaton B200,it seams to be quite popular. And it's in your price range.

I'd go to the Full Range area and ask for some opinions there as well.
And I'm sure someone like planet10 could probably give some suggestions for the B200. |

thanks guys, i'm well aware of the B200 ..... but i would realy like to give the B&G Neo8 a try.I think i buy the B200, and can upgrade any time if i dont like it ( i've seen that it needs some x-over i think).now i'm listening to the OBs with no x-over at all ......

Yes,many listeners do use a filter (not crossover) with B200.It is ofcourse more easyer if such filter isn't needed. But if the filter can be put line level, between the pre and amp for example,it should not decradate the sound.
Looks like neo8 needs to be crossed over at around 500-1000Hz region. So take it into concideration (if)when choosing the bass drivers. p.s. I have not listened to either of these drivers,so can not comment on their sound....

anyway, the layout: 1. two 15" Alphas per side B200 (well known configuration, works OK) 2. one 18" Eminence (i realy dont like this idea) row of 4-6 B&G Neo8s row of 6-8 B&G Neo3s ( i'm silly now 3. two 15" Alphas One or more ribbon mids, tweeters - please your suggestions for now i'm using my old full range tesla drivers, it sound realy good, but can be better |
