Hi
I did quick search and didn't find posts about this front loaded horn. http://www.maclementhorn.it/TqwtHorn.htm Have always thought that jx92s is not suitable for front loaded horns. Any comments or opinions?

Greets!
That's what its designer says. It's my understanding that BLHs are out too, though a big vent reflex (BVR) style should be OK. GM

Why shouldn't these Jordan fit a horn? In my ignorance and lack of knowledge can't see any reason why not. Anyway, time for some eye-shut. Cheers! |

Jordan drivers have been used in horns in the past. The smaller, JX53 drivers have been used in front horns - there was a designer in Wales some years ago who built custom horn installations using them.
The website has a design which uses both the 92 and 53 in a compact enclosure. |

Someone in the Oris horn foorum mentioned,"Horn can be used as a waveguide",and that Maclementhorn has done it this way.
So does the waveguide mean that the horn is not really used for amplifying certain frequencies, only directing them?

FWIW, I have the drivers in a Transmission Line built by Carolina Audio. I imagine it is a modification of a design on Jordans site. They are very suited to 1/4 wave folded and tapered TLs.

I assume it's due to the suspension design and what appears to be a rather fragile diaphragm design not being able to take much compression loading before it either damages itself when pushed hard and/or audibly alters its response for the worse, but mostly because its designer says it's not recommended. Really, TJ ought to join the various forums and chime in on threads concerning his products. (hint, hint, Colin) GM

Greets! Right, a WG only increases the driver's directivity, not actually compression load it, so this is what I recommend to act as an acoustic BSC. GM
