real world vents can add spatial contributions to a system which may not show with simple RTA and these are part of its "character".
from your experiences, which reflex size, aspect and vent arrangements/positsions sound best overall with Nirvana Super 10? |

Scroll down to see what common sense uses. I agree, position, size, shape, number, etc... of port/vent changes the charater of the overall sound. Peace, Godzilla |

hi Zilla - I only looked at one driver so far - the surround has one "valley" rather than multi-pleat, phase-plug is cool and input Z very flat with only 12.8 ohm @ 20Khz
this is a pretty driver Best |

I'm sure the AN is super cool. It deserves a nice cabinet!
Sorry to change the subject... but do you know anything about this eminence driver? I know your familiar with a few eminence drivers. http://www.partsexpress.com/pdf/290-510s.pdf I was thinking about using it in a two way. Godzilla |

So we are not talking about the easily measurable midrange port output ? Something all together more nebulous, IMO meaningless ........... |

If a speaker is designed and tuned with the same frequency but the port is placed on the back, front, top, bottom, etc… or is 2 inch rather than 4 inch, etc… the overall sound of the speaker will be different and IMO is not meaningless.

haha - it might not show 10ft back (?) do some builders deliberately let a bit of mids leak into the mix?

For all the above options the effect is measurable / predictable. I'm struggling with the idea that a particular port arrangement suits a particular driver, nevermind that this is for reasons that are not easily explainable or measurable. Sounds like an invitation for purely subjective snake-oil opinions. |
