Default Front tractrix horn for FE208EZ

I am studying tractrix horn like Oris 150 for my FE208EZ. I have composite workshop ready receive my order. I used software from http://www.volvotreter.de/dl-section.htm for drawing plan of the horn. However, I have some issues:
- Is it needed a compression chamber for FE208EZ when coupling with horn. If it needed, how to calculate volume of the compression chamber?
- How to couple FE208EZ driver with horn? (I mean design of adapter between horn and driver).

Thank you for your advices!

Hi, the best answer is, i think, check it out yourself, since in horn design there are a lot of variables which means that generalised statements are not beneficial. Use Hornresp and look at the response, model it to what you like. The link below takes you to the program.

http://www.users.bigpond.com/dmcbean/

compression chambers act like acoustical lowpass filters and have resonances, both depending on their sice (bigger = lower frequency), so it may not be the best thing for fullrange usage.

in addtion to that, since the horn is most efficient in the mid frequencies and the driver is beaming in the high frequencies (the allready small sweet spot will be even smaller with a horn), a tweeter or equalization may be necessary if you use a horn.

Btw, i recently used DRC, measured my system (i also use your driver) and found ugly breakup modes around a few thousand herz. Using the digital equalization is really good for the sound of this driver. If you have interest, check the following link.

But considering the whole image, i would love to hear well build horns with this driver! Must be very exciting.
