I saw this on the Mark Audio website. http://www.markaudio.com/?q=j6t It looks to be an interesting mostly full range driver, certainly avoids having a crossover in any of the critical ranges.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to use it? Thanks, Robert |

I wonder what's the deal with -6dB at 7kHz and +7dB at 18kHz? Doesn't look very usable to me.. it could sound good though

Looks similar to the old JX53 but with a less clean freq chart. Presumably, like the 53, it's intended for use at 500Hz and above.

Fs is 119 Hz. Looks very much like the JR6 except for round frame or basket.
I am a little skeptical of Mark Audio's test results. Just a few odd and troubling inconsistencies with various tests. Not necessarily good or bad, just something to keep in mind. Still nothing on the new production of JR6 transducers. I wonder . . . |

Frame and FR apart, these look very like the JX53. The JXR6 has a resonance at 80Hz so is probably a more sophisticated driver.

Yes. Also the price of J6T is saying it's not a JXr6.. Hmm.. I'd like see more measurements of the J6T.
It seems to be a Markaudio-only product, nothing on Jordan's website. |

Something on the news page. Definitely mark-audio only.

Yes, what is Jordan and what is Mark Audio Jordan is becoming confusing. All production and production engineering appears to be from Mark Audio. Mark Audio has also claimed design credit for the frames/baskets.
Still, the new transducer may be so that Mark Audio can have their own production of a Jordan product while waiting on the revised production of the current product line's "sophisticated" transducer. |

Straight from the horses mouth: I checked with Ted Jordan and the J6T is essentially an overstock OEM driver using a cheaper copy of the cone used in the JX53. Mark Audio produced it for their own use and that of a client.
The JXR6 drivers will be back in production as soon as possible, along with the original Jordan bass drivers. The company has tied up with Transmission Audio in Sweden for future production and sales. There's news about all this on the Jordan news page. |
