Default sono-speaker b3s

Hi, im going to build a speaker using the b3s full range and zaph's filter. http://www.zaphaudio.com/audio-speaker18.html
zaph specifies among other things that the edges of the baffle should be rounded, and that the speaker should not be placed directly on the deskboard due to early reflections.

So i just wondered if the design on the picture will have any noticeable affection on the sound due to reflections. im thinking about the little pieces on the top and bottom thats going to be about an inch at the most past the baffle. Could this worsen the sound?

thanks for help

Hi,

Slightly. Assuming you are making grilles an internal bevel is all that is needed.
If you are not making grilles then I cannot see the point of including the pieces.

Placing the driver around 5/8 up, 60% will give an improvement.

yes, im planning on making a grill, like the one on this picture, and then use grill cloth around the whole speaker.
do you mean a driver placement thats something like this?

Hi,

You could simply bevel fill that section. I meant driver centre is ~ 60% up.

Hi again, sorry, i dont quite understand what you mean, could you try to explain a little closer?
im sure its just me thats a little slow after a hard days work. I really appreciate the help!

so you mean that the centre of the driver should be placed with a distance ratio of 40\60% between top and bottom of the speaker?

and what do you mean by bevel fill? that i should round the edges of the pieces thats past the baffle?

thanks again for helping
