Hi Everyone,
I built a pair of the 7L br enclosures for the fr125s. I'm happy with the sound on simple material (voices sound fantastic!), but I'm not happy with the sound on more complex material (fast paced, multiple instruments). I was considering crossing the fr to a small tweeter like the 1" aura titanium around 3500hz. Would I be further ahead to cross to a woofer like the DA175 or RS180 somewhere below 1000hz? It seems to me that I could keep the crossover frequency out of the midrange by doing this. Any advice would be appreciated! |

I'd do the woofer first actually as taking the LF strain from the 125 will improve dynamics no end. I'd look to using a bigger driver if possible though. A 10in unit would be good.
As and when you decide to add a tweeter, I'd suggest not crossing over so low~3500Hz is slap-bang in a fairly critical musical region. 10 - 11KHz would be my choice; well out of the most important musical zones. |

I recently added a 12" powered sub to my 165k BIBs to good effect... but i also have a super tweeter.

Scott, you said it... a woofer would do the trick, but a 10" that match the sensitivity of FR125 is not known to me
I reckon this 8" TB sub would match nicely http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=264-854 |

That TB woofer is good value at that price. In fact it's so cheap you might want to consider a plate amp for better control and perhaps cross the fr at 100 Hz 2nd order?

Hi Andrew,
As others have suggested, I would try the low end first. The lower you cross over, the better. Less than 150Hz. 75-100Hz would be better. As for the tweeter, 10k or so. Cheers, Gio.

I wouldn't worry if the woofer is more sensitive than the CSS -better to have too much than too little -you can always loose some if needed.

Sure, a plateamp will mean more freedom in selecting a woofer than with a passive filter
But how about BSC ? |
