Puzzling with some ideas regarding the new 8" Hempacoustics CO8V
http://hempacoustics.com/CO8V_-_Hemp...heet_ready.pdf Implemented in a 250hz Tractrix horn. http://www.bd-design.nl/ And maybe combined with 2 pcs. hempacoustics 15" OB woofers. http://hempacoustics.com/SW15OB_-_He...heet_ready.pdf Cany anyone comment on this project? BTW. I have made some speakers, but have not made the jump into horn building yet. And I have good faith in hemp drivers Best Regards |

Greets!
Assuming the specs are ~correct, the CO8V has 2*Fs/Qes = 200 Hz mass corner, so a 250 Hz Tractrix horn is way too small for it. You'll need a simple waveguide (WG) at this cut-off, otherwise it's best suited for a BLH. The woofers are so much more efficient that with two you'll have to roll one off, using it only for LF 'fill'. Anyway, while some compromise loading can be reached to fill in the huge mid/HF dip, making this combo work from top to bottom isn't for a novice horn designer IMO unless you just want to keep at it until you can get it right enough through trial and error building. I have a pair of Oris 150, & get interested in CO8V, too.
I got reply from Hemp Accoustics stated that they haven't had any experiences on front horn (about this driver). <Perhaps we can do some modeling and see what we come up with. > This is the last sentence of that reply. However I haven't heard anything since then. That was last month. Or maybe someone can bridge Hemp Accoustics & BD Design? |

You can try gapping it to the 150, letting the excess gain be rolled off by the dipole effect. It probably won't help the wide BW dip higher up enough though, but only one way to know for sure. GM

Told you. I am a new beginner when it comes to horn design, but I am a fast learner.
