Hello,
I am going to finally sharpen my teeth on the diy speaker hobby with some of the zaph's hi-vi 3" full range. I figure this is a good project becuase it should be relatively easy to build and wont cost a lot if the project bombs. The main issue for me is that i have a denon reciever that is rated at 85watts per chan and zaph recommends nothing less then 100 wpc. I'm going to only build two of these to begin with but i was wondering if it's possible to add more drivers to increase the efficiency of the speakers? please excuse any ignorance i may have, i'm still learning. thanks, 's

To answer your question, yes it is possible to increase the efficiency by adding more drivers. Although there is debate as to how much, you can safely assume 3 dB improvement by doubling.
However, for your example, don't bother. The difference in volume between 85W and 100W is minor, just build the design as is. Also, if you really did need the efficiency, it would be best to pick a different design with higher efficiency drivers.

great thanks.
If this is a successful build then I will attempt a high efficiency bedroom speaker for my hybrid tube amp. Thanks again, s
