I'm sure a python script can do it, but I'd rather have one big HTML file of a thread so I don't have to stop to load a new file every 50 posts.

1,000 posts at ~~100 words per post is 100,000 words; a book-sized novel.

No outline, no chapters, no plot.

I think any way you slice or splice 100,000 disjointed words it will be a hard read.

And as a major contributor (more in the detrimental end) to that thread in particular, I can say with some confidence that if it went away with no further ado, then we'd all be better for it.

I need something good (?) to read while pedaling on my exercise bike - I've done quite a bit of reading, books and magazines as well as computer screens, this way.

I've considered reading through the Blowtorch threads, which are probably an order of magnitude larger. I've seen several posts elsewhere that point to specific blowtorch posts. Reading those and other posts around them is always interesting, even though posts rarely have anything to do with blowtorches or preamps.

As a test I downloaded the Funniest Snake Oil thread as one long HTML file. It's quite a tome. The formatting is pretty clean, tho.

FWIW, I found that HTML adds about 60% overhead to the thread download, but makes the formatting is worth it. Printing to PDF ends up huge, not sure why. Saving as a web archive works well enough, about 1/2 the size of the PDF and all the images and text are there. Most browsers can do this. The size of the archive is going to highly depend on the images in the thread.
