Some pictures doesn't get properly uploaded as attachments

Hi, I have come across quite a few posts where the picture doesn't open up properly inside a thread with a single left-mouse-click, instead it makes the browser leave the current thread page taking the user to another web page where only the picture is visible, so one have to go back to previous thread page, and in my case with a setting to view 50 posts per page it is a slow and painful reload for every picture I mistakenly click on because I can't know which picture works and which doesn't.
It appears as if some users simply can't get their uploaded pictures become an attachment of the post, which renders the zoom in/out/drag-around picture functionality useless, and due to the nature of this forum where often a post and picture has to be verify checked forth-and-back several times (such as reading of a complex schematics) it is becoming quite an obstruction when one can't view both attached picture and post concurrently, see the pictures below.

I talked to RNMarsh, who frequently uploads pictures, (over in this thread: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/equi...n-audio-range-oscillator-115.html#post4942012), about the issue but we couldn't figure out why his pictures doesn't get into that Attachment frame that should appear at the bottom of the post when using the "Manage Attachment", but instead the pictures appears in the middle of the text body.
He says he uses Chrome browser but I am using Firefox and have no problems with attaching pictures and other file types, is it browser related or a bug behind the DiyA BBS software?

I am not an expert on HTML web page coding but checking the HTML code behind the inserted picture it looks like that, those people who get their pictures uploaded incorrectly have a slightly different HTML code than those who get their pictures attached properly, see below:

Functional attachment
[special=<a href="http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/attachments/equipment-tools/590496d1483806583-low-distortion-audio-range-oscillator-img_0111.jpg" class="highslide" onclick="return hs.expand(this)" id="attachment590496"><img title="Low-distortion Audio-range Oscillator-img_0111.jpg" class="thumbnail" src="http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/attachments/equipment-tools/590496d1483806583t-low-distortion-audio-range-oscillator-img_0111.jpg" alt="Low-distortion Audio-range Oscillator-img_0111.jpg" border="0"></a>]%[/special]

Dysfunctional picture attachment from RNMarsh post (Few things I noticed is that this link is missing the onclick="return hs.expand(this)", and some other code snippets (emboldened and underlined) compared with the above example is different)
[special=<a href="http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/attachments/equipment-tools/590430d1483780015-low-distortion-audio-range-oscillator-ap-gen.jpg" rel="Lightbox_4942524" id="attachment590430"><img title="Low-distortion Audio-range Oscillator-ap-gen.jpg" class="tcattdimgresizer" src="http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/attachments/equipment-tools/590430d1483780015t-low-distortion-audio-range-oscillator-ap-gen.jpg" alt="Low-distortion Audio-range Oscillator-ap-gen.jpg" style="margin:2px" border="0"></a>
]%[/special]

If somebody have a problem with the picture attachments, one could try a different browser, I suggest try a portable version.
Mozilla Firefox ESR, Portable Edition 45.6.0 (web browser) Released | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives
SeaMonkey, Portable Edition 2.46 (internet suite) Released | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives
Opera, Portable Edition 42.0.2393.94 (web browser) Released | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives
Iron Portable 55.0.2900.1 (web browser) Released | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives
Google Chrome Portable 55.0.2883.87 Stable (web browser) Released | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives
These portable versions doesn't get installed and mock up with your machine and can be run of a USB memory stick.

Richards posts appear to have been deliberately attached that way, something I sometimes do too.

What he seems to be doing is going one step further in the attachments and doing this which then makes the post look like this. It moves the attached image to be an inline one.

:up:

It depends what works best for a given look. Sometimes the inline is better for a small image as the reader doesn't have to look to the end of the post or click to expand the image. If it doesn't look good then just edit the post and put the image back to a thumbnail.

There's another problem with these pictures that doesn't get attached properly, if I want to save a picture the right-click-mouse "Save picture as" doesn't work, instead I have to open picture in a new page (because picture doesn't panning in/out) use "copy image" then start a picture editing/viewing program, paste it in there and then save image, very cumbersome. :(

Several pictures attached by m0rten in this thread are of this nature.

I just tried it with the picture in post #67 in your linked thread...

1/ Click picture to make full size. One click opens as large and two clicks as extra large.
2/ Right click and 'save picture as'

Seems to work as I get a full sized image when I view it in the default photo viewer. This is on W10 using Edge browser.
