You erase them. Remember there is the inbox and sent message areas to erase.

Whilst we're on the subject of PMs, would it be possible to add in the ability to attach files/pictures to PMs? A number of times now I've been discussing/explaining things via PM and have wanted to attach graphs/measurements but have had no way of doing so, except to host the picture somewhere else, or use up my gallery space for it.

That's what email is for.

Generally, putting megabytes of graphics and files into PM boxes, which are then the duty of the host to store, backup in triplicate, etc, for time eternal, and are never seen by more than 1 person, is going to be a bad idea. If it's public information to be shared, it definitely makes sense. Gmail et al do a great job of that though, and their storage and backup system is much more sophisticated than ours
So, as Cal said, best to use email for that and let a dedicated email provider do the heavy lifting

I'm not saying that DIYaudio should keep the files hosted for any more then say 1 month, so there'd be no problem with concerns such as that. It'd just be very nice if one could attach image files etc to PMs, like you can in posts, from a convenience point of view.
