Is there a way to default the signature to 'off' so that I can make it appear now and then as I want, but not all the time?
I looked for a way but gave up and deleted it. Thanks. Also, when a member donates and you allow them and extra title under their name as well as 'member' remaining, is that extra title 'user set' or 'admin set'? Thanks again. Last edited by IanAS; 17th January 2012 at 09:40 PM. |

It's user settable. Go to User CP/Edit Options scroll right to the bottom and there is a field called Custom Title.

I habitually forgot to tick for it to not show. It annoyed me that I kept forgetting and then could not delete the sig due to the 30 minutes and not at all on emails I think.
I found a bit somewhere that said donators can edit their own. I wondered if they really can or if they tell and admin. I am a 'Super Admin' on a vB forum and I don't have the facility to do that; retain the "..... member" AND have a 'user set' title. It's all admin, all user, or default to just "..... member". So I wondered how you do it here. Possibly something we've not switched on or a version difference that's not offering it. We're still on 3.7.1. due to a lot of 'customising' of the source code to write in some features and look and feel we wanted and an update will overwrite most or all of that. Thanks, Ian Last edited by IanAS; 13th January 2012 at 03:31 AM. |

I went to my own forum and had a look in my user CP and yes it's there for me in the admin user group but I presume not for the members user group. I guessing what happens here at DIY Audio is that when a user donates they are moved to a different user group with those permissions enabled. They then drop back to the lower user group after 12 months. I've only ever set custom user names in the admin CP, so I will have to have a quick play to see what happens to a default user title when the custom title field is enabled in the normal member user group. It's pretty frustrating not being able to do all the normal editing and tidying (admin stuff) over here that I do daily over there. One gets very used to the 'power'. Thanks. a custom title definitely can be set by a donating user, as I set mine myself before I became a mod
edit: yes it is only available to donating users. cross posted Tony. Last edited by wintermute; 13th January 2012 at 03:28 AM. Reason: add comment about donating. |
