Avatar picture distorted

I didn't have this problem before, I have tried several sizes and the smaller the worse. I don't like distortions and would like to know how to solve this problem.

May I also recommend a smiley with some class to your forum? The standard one looks like a simpleton with liver disease.

Resize to 80 pixels by 80 pixels before uploading. I find better results using an 8 bit gif.

BTW, your avatar looks fine now.
