Default Remove picture height/width limit?

Why is there a limit of 1000x1000 for pictures attached to posts? The size limit I can understand but the width/height limit is just in the way when one wants to attach schematics or screenshots to posts.

Here here.
very annoying.
Trying to post schematics and the like is very hard to do with clarity.

I often give up trying to post helpfull info because of having to edit the image several times to meet these requirements and still have the image viewable/readable.

I suggest a 1200x1700 - 150k limit.

More in keeping with the aspect ratio of an A4 page.

I'd say at least 1280 in the with direction would be nice - that way one can post screenshots for example.

Bigger ones really can mess up the screen. What I like to do is upload the images to some free site like Flickr or my own website, then insert a link to it. The forum will automatically open it in a new tab of its own.

but a 100kB picture eats the same bandwith regardless if it is 10000x10000 or 128x128 pixels big.
