I think it shows threads you're replied to. Based on my observations, it doesn't appear to have anything to do with people logged in (besides yourself, obviously

You are both correct. Perhaps the english language is the cause of your misunderstanding Sch3mat1c.
If the black dot appears, it means that you (ie. the person currently logged in) has replied to that thread. |

I suppose it could be read to say that. But my first impression was if someone is logged in, and that person contributed to that thread, then it has a dot....whatever.
