Noam,

www.rootingoutevil.com, is that supposed to be a joke or is that a serious website?

Cheers,

Rob

Rob,
nope it's not a joke. The latest info I got is-- "On February 22-23, we'll be sending an international team of volunteer weapons inspectors to the Canada/US border to search
for weapons of mass destruction. Canadian demonstrators, carrying U.N. flags, will escort the team to the border where
American demonstrators will welcome them. Assuming the team is able to cross the border, they will proceed to a suspected
weapons site with accompanying media."

Noam

Hi Rod:

The unidentified turntable with the linear-tracking tonearm and espresso-machine styling in your pix from the Ayon Audio room is the Italian V.Y.G.E.R. There were at least two more units in the VAIC room downstairs at the San Remo (next to the Nearfield Acoustics room). I think that I have those rooms straight, but I have some memory of seeing a VPI HR-X around there, too.

I am sorry to hear that some of the rooms had inhospitable hosts. I tried to greet everyone who visited our room with a smile and as much of my time as I could offer.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for the ID on the turntable. It truly does look to be an interesting product that’s worth learning about. I must apologize for my amateurish presentation, but I am an amateur (the wonders of the internet). I sorry missed your preamp at the show. Were you there as well? Saturday was particularly busy at some of the rooms. Some doors were closed with the “listening” sign hung as a warning.

If there are changes you would like me to make, or have identification for something I’ve missed, please send them to me in an email and I’ll work to get them in.

Thanks,
Rodd Yamashita

Dear Rod:

I probably cannot contribute all that much to IDing your photos. I was glued to our demonstration room for practically all of the show, and never managed to visit the Alexis Park. But at least I do recognize designs that I have encountered previously. :)

We had our preamps and the Lyra cartridges in the Immedia room, on the 10th floor of the San Remo. I also brought the prototype for the new Lyra Erodion, an IC-based phono stage which I played for about a half-day.

We had a number of visitors from Audio Asylum and Phonogram, but AFAIK, nobody from diyAudio. Although I honestly doubt if any member of diyAudio will EVER be a customer for the Connoisseur electronics (too expensive, too limited manufacture), I sure would have appreciated having company to discuss techical issues with. Dealers, distributors and reviewers are all nice people, but for a designer it gets boring when there is nobody around to talk tech to.

Hope to see some of you next year!

regards, jonathan carr
