Question of Definition: word for "humps" in filterresponse
2 Attachment(s)
I have attached a picture of a response for a bandpass filter where the blue line is S21(transmission) and red is S11(reflection). For S11 there are "humps" in the passband, marked with rings in the picture. My question are: "What are the technical/correct name for these "humps"?" So far I have called them lobes, is that the correct word to use?
Thank you |
I'm thinking "ripple", but what do you mean by transmission and reflection? What does the circuit look like?
edit: Ah, antenna stuff....google rocks. I still think ripple is your answer. |
The shape is called a side lobe.
I notice the extremely high frequency. If you're not an engineer with hundreds of thousands of dollars of test equipment it will never work right. |

So lobe is the correct word to use? Well, I have expensive test equipment available. But I'm not going to do any measurements on a physical design for the response shown. But I have a design for a bandpass at 15GHz where I will do measurements of the frequency response. |
