Hi all,
I have been looking for some time now to find a good looking project case for the amplifier that I am going to build. All of the ones that I have been finding are ABS and IMO they do not do the project justice. I am going to be building the amp5 from 41hz.com and I already have the high quality binding posts, and cryo treated female RCA plugs, I am just missing this last piece. Can anyone refer me to a company(s) that has some nice project cases? I am mainly looking for the brushed aluminum/chrome look. Thank you! - Ryan |

I agree - most commercial stock cases are just plain nasty. Nothing beats building your own.
To get a brushed look on aluminium, I rub it down with steel wool (one direction only!) then give it a quick etch in caustic soda. Looks great. |

How big is the amplifier?
I saw a T amp put in a little ornamental treasure chest once, about 1 foot long, only the volume knob gave it away. A brilliant idea. Have a look about for ornamental wooden boxes, Antique shops might be a good place to start. You may even want to separate the power supply into another ornamental box, so you dont have a massive doctor's bag or something sitting on your cabinet. you know it's coming....... Think outside the box!! |
