New USB toy

A couple weeks back Maxim had an advertisment in EDN featuring one of their ADC's and the USBMicro interface -- I purchased a U421 online -- if you have even remotely adequate VB skills this device has all the HID stuff built in so you can just delight in the 16 I/O lines, and it would seem easier than using the FTDI chips.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
 
Jan Axelson provided some links in a recent Nuts N Volts article -- the folks at www.dlpdesign.com have some USB controllers with canned user-ID's which relieve you the necessity of writing HID code:
