Hey guys, first post here! I'd like to formally introduce myself later, but right now I'm looking for a quick answer and I think I'm in the right place!
I've been fumbling around running a church sound system and playing in worship bands for close to ten years with no formal training with sound systems, and I think it's high time I better understand what I'm working with. I'm looking for a comprehensive online source that will really help me to better understand the different types of signals typically found in a system (mic, instrument, line, etc) and how to really work with them. I'm an engineer by trade so technical explanations are not only ok but welcome - I really want to get a good grasp of this stuff. Thanks so much, in advance! |

Hi,
sites by W.Jung, Rane, Jensen & D.Self would be useful for signals, levels, unbalanced/balanced, grounding, interference, noise, etc. Maybe Elliot Sound Products (ESP) where you will find a number of useful papers.

Try Churchmedia.net they seem to have a section devoted to this.
