Default Agression

Hello everyone,

Recently there is a trend of agressive and humiliating posts. The negative energy that evaporates from these useless discussions cost too much of my ( and your ) valuable time and lead to nothing. Besides that they annoy other people that want to exchange information and don't want to get involved in these quarrels.
For some it is very difficult to accept that not everybody thinks like them and the last instrument they have is to throw with mud. Therefore I wish to sign off.

BTW I am fully aware that I am not innocent but I always try to respect another persons opinion. At least I try... Unfortunately I don't avoid confrontation and can be quite direct. This is not well received by some and the result is discussion on a level that is damaging this forum.
To me a discussion should be based on respect and even if the opponent has a contradictive opinion you can sometimes learn from the facts he or she presents. This is one of the things that made this forum different from others. To me joining this forum was not to please my own character, it was about sharing experiences. I learnt a great deal here and it was fun.

Good health and good luck with your projects,

Jean-Paul

Examples of this agression can be found here:

This is not just another gainclone

Hi Jean-Paul,
Please do not not leave my friend.
Agressive, humiliating behavior you will find everywhere in society, in work, club, school, internetforum etc.
I left the Audio Asylum, well not completely, as a result of the quarrels. People discussing each others English and so on.
Your English is better than mine but as long as we can understand each other there is no problem.
For me this forum is still the best though I noted a recent decline in quality of posts and nonsense postings just to get "enlightened".
Remember we never would have met, though in virtual world, without this forum. And you would never had your free KWAK-CLOCK PCB. It's in the making!
Please stay!</b

Jean-Paul

As moderators, we have noticed the return of aggressive posting over the last few days, and a couple of people's posts have been moved to Texas, and one member sinbinned. It is difficullt for us to act in some cases without being seen as being punative, or abusing our " God like" powers, so if you, or any other member who reads this, feels they have been insulted or the target of undue agression, please use the button below the offending post to tell us. It helps a lot.

We want to help, and we will punish offenders, but because we are often not directly involved in the threads where these arguments happen, sometimes it is hard to see the context. Sometimes what seems like a mortal insult is taken as a bit of fun, and sometimes it is, indeed, an insult. From outside it is hard to tell, so we need you all to help us keep the peace by reporting posts.

If you do not feel the problem is severe enough to report officially, then just drop myself or any of the other Mods a private e-mail, and we will watch that thread for a while to gauge the seriousness of the problem.

Jean- Paul, we are here to help, so don't go, your input into this forum has been useful and informative. If you wish to take the matter further then e-mail me privately, and I will take it seriously.

I also noticed, especially yesterday, aggression and quarrels in many threads. Maybe SinBin should be used more often after all. There are some members who seem to find pleasure in arguing just for the fun of it and they influence the forum in a very negative way. They show no real contribution, no advice and questionable knowledge they brag about.

Jean-Paul, your departure would be a loss to this forum, so I second Elso and ask you to stay. I think we can fix the agression problem.

Jean Paul,

In the past I would have taken on people like you've shown in the threads you linked, but now, I simply can't be bothered and just ignore them.

Don't let the turkeys get you down

I hope you won't leave, but wish you the best no matter what you decide.

Cheers

Brett, your past encounter with Joel shows otherwise.

But I agree, this is the way to deal with such people, just draw the line and ignore. There is so many more interesting things to do.

Grasshopper, what about the more recent stuff? Joel and I have agreed on things, and I've stayed out of other arguments, even deliberately ignoring some overt provocation, and "Bummer of a birthmark, Hal" opportunities.

I had one of those events in my personal life in the last few weeks that put some new persective on things, and I decided I can't be bothered arguing anymore. Well, at least not at the moment.
But don't you guys (mods) relax, I consider you special cases.
hehehe

Jean-Paul, my fellow country man I need your viewpoints and knowledge. Specially being so far from home. Please don't let this
bickering get in the way, Robert.

And if you ask me nicely I will provide you with some more cool avatars. ;0)

Blijf bij ons we hebben een paar nuchtere hollanders nodig.
