Biofuels will generate just as much CO2 as any other carbon burning. TANSTAAFL indeed.
On the surface, this is true..but, and it's a big but, any given plant will conume more CO2 during it's life cycle than will be released during it's burn. You would actually get a net reduction of CO2 .

I read a discussion years ago about firing nuclear waste into the sun. I don't think 'ol Sol would care too much about that personally, but I'm not an expert.

exactly its atmospheric carbon that is released from the burning of biofuels so it is net 0 (or less). I drive a VW Golf TDI that I run on B100 from april to september and B20 the rest of the time. 50mpg on Soy Methyl Esters is a wonderful thing! Of course soy is not going to be the feedstock of the future. I think algae will revolutionize biofuels. You get biodiesel from the oils extracted and the rest can be used to make ethanol. BioButanol is also exciting because it does not pickup water like ethanol and conatins more energy then ethanol. Ethanol generally suck imho. I also burn B20 to heat my apt.

You missed the point completely.

Plants may like CO2. But there's such a thing as too much.

I hate to be a party pooper, but why do you keep making these threads jacquesl? This is the third topic you have created that has to do with free/clean energy.

Did you glean nothing from your first 82 page thread? The subject of hydrogen as a fuel source was discussed there at least a dozen times.
