What CAD?

What CAD program do you use to CAD you amplifiers, loudspeakers or other projects?
I personaly can't use AutoCAD. I like Solid Works but there ust be better and easy CAD programs out there. I like a 3D window.

SolidWorks. I would only use AutoCad for 2D.

There is a free version of Alibre that is popular for doing 3D models. I have always used AutoCAD, but what I have seen of Alibre looks easier to create 3D objects.

I recently DL'd BRL CAD, a former military project, now open source. I haven't spent much time playing with it yet, but it runs under linux and there's even a 64 bit distro for it.

Any suggestions for something that runs under Linux and would be simple to learn for someone with no CAD experience?

For 2D I use Autosketch (which is a junior version of Autocad but mutch easier to use) still very capable for scale drawing.
I have used Autosketch since picking up a free copy of V5 with a computer mag some years ago. Currently using V8 which costs about GB £100. I do a lot of engineering drawing & V8 can open Autocad .dwg & .dxf files amongst others.

Recently started to play around with a free 3D download program called Google SketchUp. Not in the Solid Works league but great after a bit of practice for 3D pictures of Amplifiers & Speaker ideas.
It does work to scale & also has the ability to add a range of surface finishes & layers are also available. Well worth a try for a free download.
Just go on to Google & type in SketchUp.
