DC-2 preamp RCA to XLR power amp
I'm sure this has been asked before ... for reasons too long to explained I have to connect my av processor preamp (Lexicon DC-2) with the power amp (Bryston 5b st) over a 10 feet distance.
The Lexicon does not have XLR, only RCA out but the Bryston does, is there a way I can rake a true XLR out of the Lex RCA out to preserve the signal via XLR ? thanks ahead |
Yes,
read W.Jung, D.Self and copy Jensen pseudo balanced source. Sites are worth reading in detail. Sorry, it won't let me post the gif diagram. I'll try to find the AN ref. http://www.jensentransformers.com/an/an003.pdf fig 2.4 |
thanks andrew
is the performance do the pseudo design better than off the shelf products ? |
No idea.
But it preserves the common mode rejection built into your balanced input. You need extreme accuracy when matching the pairs of resistors. You may want to re-visit your receiver and check matching accuracy in there. I have seen 0.1% and 0.01% quoted. |
